"Strange. I thought those with everything to lose were far more dangerous. A man with nothing to lose has nothing to fight for."

Yaaay a winner! I was a tiny bit disappointed by this spin off series. I liked the previous stories but they were all missing that little something that would make me love them.

BUT! I just knew Charlie will win me over!
My sugarplum was adorable and is to be protected at all costs!

The Darkest Star

The Darkest Star The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It still amazes me. The whole thing. Like how all the basic human rights can be stripped away, but because you have a bed, a room, and food on your plate, you don’t even realize you have no rights.

I'm a big JLA fan and I really liked the Lux series so I might be a bit biased when it comes to this but it felt so good being back in that world! We got even more things explained in this book and really liked that.
I was always a fan of Luc so of course I was excited to read his story and I'm happy to say I'm satisfied.
Well, for now. Can't wait to see what's coming next.

I'm not going to spoil anything, all I'm going to say is if you loved the Lux universe and wanted more of it then definitely give this story a chance

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book

I've seen revenge. So many times and in so many different ways. I've pulled the bodies out of the Thames and arrested hysterical wives or husbands.

Revenge is a cold, lonely place, and it consumes a person until there is nothing else left but bitterness and ashes.
And it always affects so many more than the people involved.

A great debut novel by a very promising new author.

So nothing really happened in this book and the love triangle made it so much worse. I will never understand the need to destroy a character just so we can have an excuse for it to happen. (view spoiler) But oh well, what do I know.

In a world where everyone was guaranteed to get whatever they needed, not everyone got everything they wanted.

Loved it!
And I want more and after this ending I need to know what happens next..

Over these many years, I have observed both profound folly and breathtaking wisdom among humankind. They balance each other like dancers in the throes of a passionate tango.
It is only when the brutality of the dance overwhelms the beauty that the future is threatened. It is the scythedom that leads, and sets the tone for the dance.
I often wonder if the scythedom realizes how fragile are the spines of the dancers.

I vow to become the change that might have been.

This was sooo good and I was pleasantly surprised and I'm very very happy about it!
I think I had some tiny issues at times but by the end of the book all I could think of was that I loved it and that I need to read the next book asap.

Immortality cannot temper the folly or frailty of youth. Innocence is doomed to die a senseless death at our own hands, a casualty of the mistakes we can never undo. So we lay to rest the wide-eyed wonder we once thrived upon, replacing it with scars of which we never speak, too knotted for any amount of technology to repair.

They promised to protect people, but crimes still happened everyday. People were still hurt. People were still killed.
There was the potential for evil everywhere, and the only way to combat it was if more people chose goodness. If more people chose heroism.
Not laziness. Not apathy. Not indifference.

I really wanted to love this one. There were superheroes and villains and fights and all that jazz and I was excited until I realized that the main characters were boring. And that I didn't care about them at all. And if that's not enough to ruin a book for you I don't know what is.
It was in no way bad. I actually enjoyed the story. I just wish I liked the characters more. Or disliked. Or felt anything for them i guess.

Cassian had named about two dozen poses for Nesta at this point. Ranging from "I Will Eat Your Eyes for Breakfast" to "I Don't Want Cassian to Know I'm Reading Smut".
The latter was his particular favorite.

No more Feyre and Rhys, PLEASE. That's it. I've had enough. They honestly bore me to tears.
The whole Lucien-Azriel-Elain thing is stupid and also boring.
Tamlin.. Am I supposed to feel bad for him? I don't get it and I couldn't care less at this point.

The only characters I care about are my babies Cassian and Nesta. Maybe Amren and Lucien too.. And I really really hope there's more of them in the next books and much MUCH less Feysand because I don't think I can read another book focused on them.
