The Iron Traitor

The Iron Traitor The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

Puck dropped to the monster's snout, right in front of its glowing eyes, grinning cheekily.
"Hey, ugly, lookee here! I'm doing the Macarena on your nose."

The Lost Prince

The Lost Prince The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I would not worry about that, mortal.

No one ever leaves the Nevernever completely sane.

I missed this world!
Ash is still a babe. Puck is still adorkable. And grumpy Ethan and awesome Kenzie make it easy to love them.
Can't wait for more.

Storm and Fury

Storm and Fury Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

"I'm guessing the sky is full of stars?"

"It is, but the only ones that matter are the ones you see."

I'm a huge JLA fan. Her stories always make me feel all fuzzy and happy on the inside. However I wasn't a big fan of her Dark Elements series so I wasn't really sure what to expect from this.

I am very happy to say I enjoyed this. The gargoyles, the action, the special snowflake who, for once, didn't feel sorry for her powers, the angst. I see some things that could get annoying in the following books but we'll get to that if and when it happens.

For now I'll do my happy dance and wait for more.

The Merciful Crow

The Merciful Crow The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Are you done?" the arbiter demanded.

"Aye cousin, this'll do." Pa whistled the marching order. "We'll be back when you call."

When, not if.

I actually really enjoyed this. Maybe I was in the right mood for it because most of my friends either dnf or didn't really like it and I went in with low expectations. I also get how the writing might be annoying for some but, thankfully, I wasn't bothered by it at all.

One star is gone because of some issues with the characters at times but overall this book was a plesant surprise for me.

Give the Dark My Love

Give the Dark My Love Give the Dark My Love by Beth Revis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A good book will give you answers to questions you didn't know you had.
A great book will give you questions to answers you thought you knew.

Grey was the worst part of this book. Without the ridiculous romance this would have been an awesome read.

All creatures can experience pestilence, famine, and death—but war, true war, that is a singularly human experience.

Bring Me Their Hearts

Bring Me Their Hearts Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am no flower to be ravaged at your whim, angry wolf-I am your hunter, bow cocked and ready. I am a Heartless, one of the creatures your people fled from in terror.

If you were smart, you'd star running, too.

"Thank you for having me here today."

Thank you, and I'm sorry.
As sorry as a monster can be.

It's the books I don't expect to like that I end up loving.
This was great! Can't wait for the next one.

Sorcery of Thorns

Sorcery of Thorns Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Life is like the oil within a lamp.

It can be measured, but the pace at which it burns depends upon how the dial is turned day by day, how bright and fierce the flame. And there is no predicting whether the lamp might be knocked to the ground and shatter, when it could have blazed on a great while longer.

Such is the unpredictability of life.

"Don't all journeys change you?"

"It isn't the same. I, too, once journeyed beyond the stars."

"What did you find?"

"That it's just the beginning."

I think the second part of the book is what killed my rating.
Still an enjoyable read.

Shadow of the Fox

Shadow of the Fox Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

⭐️4.5 stars⭐️

It is very hard to be human, little fox. Even the humans themselves don't do a great job of it. The mortal world is full of hatred, betrayal, sadness and death.
It is far easier to abandon everything that is human and just be kitsune.

But they have not seen their sun die. Their people burn. Their world end. And they do not know, yet, that there are some breaks that cannot be fixed.
