Capturing the Devil

Capturing the Devil Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars

Promise me to wake each day and find joy wherever you can, no matter how small it may be.

There will always be hard times and trying times and times for sorrow, but we won't let those days destroy the here and now.

Because right now? I'm here. And you're here. And the present is more glorious than the future and all of its unknowns.

The Last True Hero

The Last True Hero The Last True Hero by Bec McMaster
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

People sometimes find a kind of strength in hard situations that you'd never believe they owned.
Maybe she's never had to be fearless, because you were there beside her? Or maybe she knows that her sister would shift hell and high water to get her back?
Maybe that's her strength, right now, knowing that you're coming for her.

I'm so intrigued by Colton. This was good but I just can't wait for his story.

The Iron Warrior The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Puck winked at me. "I'm sure I'll see you again, whether you like it or not."

"Yeah," I deadpanned. "So looking forward to it."

Puck laughed again. "Don't you forget it. Until the next adventure kiddos."

Sticking his hands into his pockets, the Great Prankster sauntered off, whistling until he reached the edge of the trees and vanished into the shadows.

The first part of the series will always be my favorite but I loved this world and I'm glad I got the chance to be back in it. Ash, Puck and Meghan will forever be my babies..

And as Puck said: Until the next adventure kiddos.

"I'm guessing the sky is full of stars?"

"It is, but the only ones that matter are the ones you see."

I'm a huge JLA fan. Her stories always make me feel all fuzzy and happy on the inside. However I wasn't a big fan of her Dark Elements series so I wasn't really sure what to expect from this.

I am very happy to say I enjoyed this. The gargoyles, the action, the special snowflake who, for once, didn't feel sorry for her powers, the angst. I see some things that could get annoying in the following books but we'll get to that if and when it happens.

For now I'll do my happy dance and wait for more.

"Are you done?" the arbiter demanded.

"Aye cousin, this'll do." Pa whistled the marching order. "We'll be back when you call."

When, not if.

I actually really enjoyed this. Maybe I was in the right mood for it because most of my friends either dnf or didn't really like it and I went in with low expectations. I also get how the writing might be annoying for some but, thankfully, I wasn't bothered by it at all.

One star is gone because of some issues with the characters at times but overall this book was a plesant surprise for me.

Life is like the oil within a lamp.

It can be measured, but the pace at which it burns depends upon how the dial is turned day by day, how bright and fierce the flame. And there is no predicting whether the lamp might be knocked to the ground and shatter, when it could have blazed on a great while longer.

Such is the unpredictability of life.

People are going to hate you because you hurt them, either intentionally or inadvertently. People will hate you because they don't like your personality, or the way you talk, or whatever superficial bullshit some idiot can't get past. There'll be people who just hate you on sight for no good reason—those ones are strange.
But at the end of the day, that's the way it is. Not everyone is going to like you, and you're not going to like everybody.

So much better than the first one!
Brenna was strong, confident and a smartass and I loved her! And Jake (sigh).. Can I keep him? Jake is officially the new addition to my book boyfriend collection. I loved how blunt and unapologetic he was about what he wanted and how he went for it.

The secret of life that everyone knew and everyone forgot was that we weren't alone. We thought we were unique. We thought we were the first.

No one has been through what I've been through.
No one else is feeling this.
No one knows what it's like to be me.
This is the first time anyone has endured what I've endured, right?

They're lies we tell ourselves, because we think we're special. Because it would lessen the entitlement to suffer to know what we're going through is not uncommon.

"Sweet wrist shot."

My eyebrows soar. Wow. Is she actually complimenting him?

"What's the matter, your slap shot doesn't have enough power behind it?"

Or not.

I'm not gonna talk about Summer cause I really didn't like her and she was horrible to Hunter. And Fitzy was, well, boring and I didn't believe in the romance for a second BUT this book gave us Brenna who is LOVE and I can't wait for her book.
