Dukes Are Forever

Dukes Are Forever Dukes Are Forever by Bec McMaster

No Rogue left behind.

It means something to them. It means something to you. It means something to me.

Stop thinking of it as a weakness, and start thinking of it as a strength.

The Risk

The Risk The Risk by Elle Kennedy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

⭐️5 stars⭐️

People are going to hate you because you hurt them, either intentionally or inadvertently. People will hate you because they don't like your personality, or the way you talk, or whatever superficial bullshit some idiot can't get past. There'll be people who just hate you on sight for no good reason—those ones are strange.
But at the end of the day, that's the way it is. Not everyone is going to like you, and you're not going to like everybody.

So much better than the first one!
Brenna was strong, confident and a smartass and I loved her! And Jake (sigh).. Can I keep him? Jake is officially the new addition to my book boyfriend collection. I loved how blunt and unapologetic he was about what he wanted and how he went for it.

And now we wait forEVER for Hunter's book...

Kill Switch

Kill Switch Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The secret of life that everyone knew and everyone forgot was that we weren't alone. We thought we were unique. We thought we were the first.

No one has been through what I've been through.
No one else is feeling this.
No one knows what it's like to be me.
This is the first time anyone has endured what I've endured, right?

They're lies we tell ourselves, because we think we're special. Because it would lessen the entitlement to suffer to know what we're going through is not uncommon.

It requires mortality to make art. The knowledge of death, of things limited.
There is fire inside of us, and as it blazes, it burns us, and the burning causes pain-but without its light, I cannot see to draw.

"Which one are you?" Brenna asks him.

"What do you mean?"

"What name is on your jersey?"

He grins. "Ah gotcha. Number 61. McCarthy."

She narrows her eyes. "You scored the tying goal in the third."

McCarthy beams. "That was me."

"Sweet wrist shot."

My eyebrows soar. Wow. Is she actually complimenting him?

"What's the matter, your slap shot doesn't have enough power behind it?"

Or not.

I'm not gonna talk about Summer cause I really didn't like her and she was horrible to Hunter. And Fitzy was, well, boring and I didn't believe in the romance for a second BUT this book gave us Brenna who is LOVE and I can't wait for her book.

The art of telling a good story lies in knowing when to stop.
Keep talking long enough, you'll find there's no such thing as a happy ending.

"And what's all this proclivities nonsense? Since when did beating the meat or rubbing the bean become a deviant activity?"

"Beating the meat." John snickers into his beer.

"Got a better one," Whip counters with a brow waggle. "Wanking the willy?"

"Charming the snake," Sophie offers.

"Polishing the pearl," Jules says.

"Tickling my treat," Brenna adds.

"I"m becoming uncomfortably aroused," Rye grumbles.

"Forget the girl who had everything. She died when her father did. Nothing is where you start.
Own nothing. Know nothing. Be nothing."

"Why would I want to do that?"

"Because then you can do anything."

The truth is, there will always be somebody stronger than you. That's just the way the world works. It doesn't matter what you are. You do what you can.

You fight, and you win, until you don't.

The moments that define lives aren't always obvious. They don't scream LEDGE, and nine times out of ten there's no rope to duck under, no line to cross, no blood pact, no official letter on fancy paper.

Between one sip and the next, he made the biggest mistake of his life, and it was made of nothing more than one line. Three small words.

"I'll go first."

That was brilliant. LOVED IT.

Warrior of the Wild

Warrior of the Wild Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

You may know what is best for you, but you have no right to say what is best for someone else.

I spent most of the book being annoyed at the main characters. I found them childish and I couldn't connect with them at all. Which is sad because I was looking forward to a Viking story but if the characters don't do it for me then nothing will.

Thank god for mean Iric and the few moments of joy he gave me.
