Daughter of the Siren Queen

Daughter of the Siren Queen Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller

You're going to need to remember that we're not only women, we're pirates.

You wouldn't give a second thought to a couple of men aboard your ship behaving in such a way or talking such talk. You do not get to judge us more harshly for being women.

I have twenty-eight excellent girls aboard this ship, and their pasts have shaped them. Just as yours has shaped you. And every single one of them, down to little Roslyn, deserves your respect.

Even a man who's spent his whole life at sea has reason to fear her when she's angry.
But not I.
I sleep soundly. Listening to her music. The sea watches over me.
She protects her own.

Lies.
Wasn't that what all stories were?
Wasn't that what made them so dangerous?
~~~
Every one of us is born with a song buried deep in our hearts. A song all our own. And our mission in life is to find that song.
I loved this so much I'm so happy!!
"One day you'll have to pay all those back. Are you scared now?"
"I would be if you weren't wearing your hair in a girly little ponytail," I say, reaching for the ends of his white hair.
"It's not good manners to taunt a fairy. We have notoriously thin skin." Despite the threat, his eyes spark with excitement.
"I'm sorry," I say, "your ponytail is very masculine. I feel like I'm going to grow a beard just looking at it"
"Mouthy thing."
To Kill a Kingdom
To Kill a Kingdom To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I've made a mistake. It started with a prince, as most stories do.
I think not going into this with super duper expectations was really smart.
I enjoyed the book but what I really didn't like was the ending.. That final battle? I needed more from that. I mean, it's the final battle. I wanna be at the edge of my seat, you know? And then how we get everything wrapped up in a couple pages in the end. Yeah, I wasn't happy about that part either.
But whatever, the story was fun, there was a pirate/prince and sirens and a cool ship and honestly? I had fun reading it. So there you go.
It was funny how a dream really just contained the absolute best and absolute worst parts of the animal world. She'd been so afraid of the absolute worst that she'd forgotten how she missed the absolute best.
A bloody path was chosen.
The Great War fought by the few has come to pass,
and in the end,
the sun has fallen,
and the moon will reign until the new sun rises.
I finally get it.
And I'm a tiny bit broken right now.
"Do you remember me telling you we are practicing non-verbal spells, Potter?"
"Yes," said Harry stiffly.
"Yes, sir."
"There's no need to call me "sir" Professor."
I will never not laugh at this.
The Struggle
The kitchen door opened once more and Deacon drew up short. His gray eyes widened as he spotted Apollo.
Gable bumped into him from behind. "Who's that?"
"Nope," Deacon said, turning right back around. "That is all kinds of nope right there."
Main reason I keep reading these books is because I love these people and I get the Covenant series nostalgia feels. And of course because JLA. Seth and Josie are cool and all but they're not Alex and Aiden.
And I NEED more Deacon and more Apollo!
(JLA if you hurt my babies I will be very very angry)
Also, in case I haven't mentioned it before... I want to BURN that cover.
If I don't tell her how I feel, we'll stay friends. I can handle that. Friendship is real. It lasts, and it's safe.
Well that was adorable. I wanted to throw some slaps a few times but I can't really resist friends to lovers stories so I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
Addiction didn't discriminate.
Addiction didn't care about the square footage of your house or the kind of car you drove.
It didn't care about your pedigree or your GPA.
Addiction was an equal opportunity life-ruiner.
The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many-layered thing.
The world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us.
What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.
