[Willard to Henry]

"What do you think princess?"

I put the book down. "This isn't it. She'd want a book that's been read-dog eared and held and sighed over-not one that's been caged in glass its whole life. She'll want one that's been loved."

Ever so slowly, Willard smiles. "There's hope for you yet."

I love him.

"We haven't been formerly introduced. I'm Ellie, Olivia's sister."

My grandmother (The Queen) looks down her nose at Ellie. "Yes, child, I'm aware of who you are."

"And I just...well...I wanted to thank you for the gown. Olivia said you paid for it and it must have cost a ton!"

"Indeed."

Ellie cups her breasts in her palms, squeezing. "And it makes my boobs look great!"

The Queen turns. "Christopher, get me a drink."

We're only ever good, because there are consequences. Take those away, and everyone shows their true self. Kind of like taking off a mask.

They tell us that what we want is wrong and that freedom is dirty. They see chaos, madness, and fucking as ugly, and the older you get, the smaller that box gets. You feel it closing in already, don’t you?

He howled and dropped, and then she was off again, leaping over his fallen form, her hands itching to raise hell, draw blood and spread the glory of her name.
The Bloody Baroness was here.
She’d make sure every single one of them knew it.

They think that you won't hit back - that you'll just lower your eyes and hide. And sometimes, to protect yourself, to make it go away, you do. But sometimes, you find yourself standing in exactly the right position, wielding exactly the right weapon to hit back. So I hit.

We almost always can point to that hundredth blow, but we don't always mark the ninety-nine other things that happen before we change.

There is truth in stories. There is truth in one of your paintings or in a sunset or a couplet from Homer. Fiction is truth, even if it's not a fact. If you believe only in facts and forget stories, your brain will live, but your heart will die.

No one is ever the villain of their own story.

When no one you know tells the truth, you learn to see under the surface.

It has been sooo long since I read TMI. Honestly speaking I doubt I'd like those books as much as I did if I read them now. And I wasn't a big fan of TID. So I didn't really know what to expect from this new series.
But, fuck me, I actually loved this! Sure, the shadowhunuter world isn't anything new and I won't pretend this is something completely different and original, but I loved almost all of these characters which made me love this book and I'm actually really glad I read it.
Will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
